“Into the Badlands” brings martial arts adventure to AMC and is executive produced and directed in parts by our own David Dobkin.
The series, which is being lauded for its originality and incredible fight sequences centers around a warrior and a young boy as they travel through dangerous territory, and the many foes they meet along the way.
David Dobkin directed six episodes of the first season, as well as executive produced the series. The show stars Daniel Wu, Orla Brady, Sarah Bolger, Aramis Knight and Emily Beecham.
Tim Goodman at the Hollywood Reporter states that “Into the Badlands” is “fun, it’s escapist thrill-seeking and, in its penchant for violence and blood, it’s a perfect companion series to The Walking Dead, while maintaining its own distinct identity.” Tim Grierson at TheWrap hails the show as “full of bloody action, badass characters and more than a little cheese, this AMC action-drama isn’t particularly nuanced, but it’s consistently pulpy fun, with just about every creative decision seemingly made based on how cool it would be.”
