All the Money in the Wolrd follows the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer) and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother Gail (Michelle Williams) to convince his billionaire grandfather (Kevin Spacey) to pay the ransom. When Getty Sr. refuses, Gail attempts to sway him as her son’s captors become increasingly volatile and brutal. With her son’s life in the balance, Gail and Getty’s advisor (Mark Wahlberg) become unlikely allies in the race against time that ultimately reveals the true and lasting value of love over money.
The film also marks the first time Kevin Spacey has worked with Ridley. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said:
“I’ve known Ridley a very long time, and I’ve seen him on a number of occasions at a number of places, but we’ve never worked together, and it was maybe four, five years ago when I ran into him again,” the Oscar winner recalls. “I said to him, ‘Ridley, in the future, I don’t care where you are, I don’t care if we’re on an airplane or at some VIP premiere party, if you see me, I do not want you to come up to me, I do not want you to come say hello, because we’ve been saying hello together for nearly 20 years, and the next time you say hello to me has to be on a film set.”
All the Money in the World arrives in theaters on Dec. 8.
