Laurence Dunmore began his directing career in music videos while simultaneously owning and running his own graphic design company. Dunmore focused on full-time directing when he joined RSA Films producing work for clients as diverse as American Express, AT&T, Adidas, Axe/Lynx, BMW, Cadillac, Diesel, Eurostar, Heineken, Hermes, ING, Johnnie Walker, Jameson, Liberty Mutual, Mercedes, Renault and Peugeot.
Recently Dunmore worked with Solange Azagury Partridge, a leading jewelry designer, on a short film with Thandie Newton and Jason Isaacs.
Dunmore has been awarded numerous top industry accolades, including Cannes Film Festival’s Gold Lion for his AXE/Lynx ‘Metamorphosis’ spot, a Cannes Silver Lion and a silver pencil at D&AD Awards for his Adidas work as well as an AICP Award for his work with BMW.
Last year Dunmore won a Silver Cannes Lion for his short film ‘Fathers Day’ for Liberty Mutual.
Inspired by performance driven commercials and short films Dunmore has worked with actors such as John Malkovich, Thandie Newton, Andy Garcia, Pierce Brosnan and Giancarlo Giannini on various projects.
It was working with John Malkovich on a Eurostar commercial that resulted in Malkovich asking Dunmore to direct ‘The Libertine’, his first feature. Malkovich both produced and starred in the film. Dunmore also secured Johnny Depp in the lead along with Samantha Morton. The film was nominated for eight British Independent Film Awards including Best Director and won Best Supporting Actress for Rosamund Pike’s performance.
Dunmore currently is working on several feature projects whist continuing to make commercials.
