After a misspent youth in the clubs and music venues of Newcastle, Patrick became interested in trying to bring the mischief and fun of those times into the worlds of film and television.

This led, at the age of 23, to Patrick becoming a researcher/reporter on Janet Street Porter’s much lampooned BBC2 yoof series, Reportage.

Patrick then gradually worked his way up to the dizzy heights of documentary filmmaker. He received international recognition for his C4 documentary, The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off which showed in over 80 countries and won a number of awards, including a BAFTA, an RTS and an Emmy.

After completing a trilogy of C4 documentaries a call from ad agency Fallon lured Patrick into the world of commercials where, amongst other work, he has directed two major campaigns, one for ASDA and another for Natwest.

Through this work Patrick reveals his knack of pulling performance out of celebrities and Joe Public in surprising and engaging ways.

Over the years Patrick’s love of film has come to the fore and he has a feature in development with BBC Films written by The Men Who Stare At Goats and How To Lose Friends And Alienate People writer, Peter Straughan.

Recently Patrick directed his first feature length television drama for ITV1, Joe Maddison’s War written by the late, great Alan Plater (Z Cars and The Beiderbecke Affair).  For this film Patrick evolved his technique and embraced a classical style combining his ability with performance to well lit, composed, images.  

Patrick splits his time between London and Newcastle – this makes him happy as he can justify an ever-increasing number of bicycles that he pedals around both cities.
