Jake Scott has been directing commercials and music videos for over 15 years, during which time he has accumulated a vast number of awards recognising his work on behalf of many of the world’s most distinguished corporate brands and musical entertainers. Scott’s directorial mark has been applied to the world’s most prestigious brands including Adidas, Amazon, AOL, American Express, Apple, Boots, Budweiser, Coca-Cola, Columbia Sportswear, Mastercard, ESPN, Gateway, Honda, Hummer, Johnnie Walker, JP Morgan, Kodak, HP, Nike, Barclays, Smirnoff, Sprite, and UPS.
Scott gained early directorial prominence with REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’. It won multiple MTV awards, a Grammy Nomination and was inducted in the MVPA Hall of Fame in 2005. Scott has also directed highly acclaimed videos for U2, No Doubt, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, The Strokes, and George Michael. Scott has two videos in the MTV 100 best videos of all time. In 2003, Scott won an Emmy for Best Commercial, in addition to receiving three AICP awards and an Andy for his work on Nike’s ‘Move.’
In 2005, Scott won a Silver Lion award in Cannes for his work with Adidas in addition to receiving two CLiO’s for the same brand spot. Also in that same year, Scott was nominated for a Grammy for direction of George Michaels’ ‘Flawless’ for Best Music Video and received three AICP awards for his work with Nike’s ‘Magnet.’ In 2008, his work on HBO’s ‘Voyeur’ won him a Grand Prix and a Cyber Lion at Cannes. Jake completed his second film, ‘Welcome to the Rileys,’ starring Kristen Stewart, James Gandolfini and Academy Award nominee Melissa Leo which just screened in competition at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and in the Panorama section of the Berlin International Film Festival.
Scott has directed the acclaimed Budweiser half-time Super Bowl spots every year since 2012, including Prohibition, Brotherhood, Puppy Love and Lost Dog, the latter being the most shared advert on game day with 2.2 million views across Facebook, Twitter, and blogs. Most recently USA Today featured Scott’s ‘The Hoop’ for Dicks Sporting Goods, as their ad of the year. And ‘Gentlemen’s Wager’, an eight-minute branded film starring Jude Law for Johnnie Walker, was awarded a D&AD Pencil for creative excellence.
