Tompa & Rondo

Tompa and Rondo are the directing duo of Tomas Skoging and Filip Nilsson, two of Sweden’s most accomplished talents in advertising. Skoging is co-founder/director of renowned Swedish creative collective Acne and Nilsson spent over two decades as the creative leader of Forsman and Bodenfors, transforming the small startup in Gothenburg into one of the world’s top three agencies. Tompa and Rondo’s first work continues that inspiring tradition with award-winning commercials for IKEA – “Blue Bag,” “Who Are You Cooking For?” – and Milka – “Easter.” Epic stories and production, lush art direction and captivating performance characterize Tompa and Ronda’s ads, which have already been honored with Cannes Lions.

Nilsson’s creative roots are as a writer and creative director. His work has won all major awards, including Film Gold Lions and a Film Grand Prix in Cannes, often for big Swedish brands like IKEA and Volvo. His legacy of innovation at Forsman & Bodenfors helped the agency win over 80 Cannes Lions across many disciplines, including campaigns like Volvo Epic Split. After Forsman, Nilsson spent two years as Vice President of BETC Paris, leaving in 2015 to team with Skoging and focus on directing.

Skoging got his start as a sought-after graphic designer, putting his love of comic books and drawing cartoons as a kid to good use. Eventually he bought an 8mm camera and turned his father’s garage into a studio, then slowly transitioned to the moving image. Another true entrepreneurial spirit, Skoging founded Acne with four friends over two decades ago, and established an international brand within film, fashion, advertising and technology. Over the last decade his work has been honored with a Cannes Gold Lion, D&AD and One Show Pencils, CLIOS and Epica awards.

Skoging and Nilsson draw from their different backgrounds to arrive at the strongest idea for every project. They are nimble on set, flipping a coin the night before a shoot to decide who will focus on talent, and who will focus on the camera. Whether a comedy or anthem commercial, Tompa and Rondo are poised to be among the industry’s most exciting big storytellers today.
