Ridley Scott’s first commercial in 17 years, Hennessy X.O ‘The Seven Worlds’, has earned the director his fifth Directors Guild of America Awards nomination.
The film, from agency DDB Paris, unveils a visual journey exploring the seven Hennessy flavor profiles in a surreal, sensorial and immersive narrative. With over 117 million online views, ‘The Seven Worlds’ has picked up awards at Cannes Lions, One Show, D&AD, AICP, CLIOS, Ciclope and Berlin Film Festival.
The DGA previously honored Ridley in 2017 with a Lifetime Achievement Award for feature film. His other DGA-nominated films are The Martian, Black Hawk Down, Gladiator and Thelma & Louise.
Ridley is shortlisted in the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials category alongside directors Spike Jonze and Dougal Wilson. RSA directors Sam Mendes and Ava DuVernay also received nominations for feature films ‘1917’ and ‘When They See Us’.
This year’s DGA Award winners will be announced January 25th at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.
