Kai-Lu Hsiung assumes role as RSA Films Global MD

September 24, 2020

Kai-Lu Hsiung is to assume the role of RSA Films Global Managing Director, with Martin Roker being promoted to Global Head of Black Dog Films. Veteran producer David Mitchell will leave RSA at the end of September for a new venture he is developing, to be announced later this year. Both Hsiung and Roker will continue to work out of the RSA global HQ in London.

Mitchell, who has served as RSA Films US Managing Director since 2018, has spent the majority of his career producing high-profile commercials for RSA and in particular Tony and Jake Scott.

“I’m so proud to have been part of the company for the past two decades, and appreciative of all the opportunities that enabled me to contribute to its amazing, often ground-breaking legacy of work,” Mitchell commented.

Having held the RSA UK MD role for 17 years, Hsiung has worked hand in hand with Mitchell to ensure a smooth transition as RSA continues to evolve in its long-standing role as a global production leader. In the US, Hsiung and Roker will work with RSA EP Buddy Brakha, RSA EP/HOP Elicia Laport, and Black Dog EP Molly Bohas.

“I’m delighted to accept the responsibility of leading RSA through this new era” said Hsiung. “As the world is changing, we recognise the importance of structuring RSA to help our global territories communicate more closely, ensuring a streamlined, cohesive way of sharing our international production expertise.”

Ridley Scott Creative Group CEO, Luke Scott – “David is a much-loved member of the RSA family. It is with all our gratitude and support that we wish him the greatest success with his new venture. Under the global leadership of Kai-Lu Hsiung, RSA will continue to provide the very best creative production partnership for agencies and brands worldwide. Alongside our recently opened European office in Amsterdam, our offices in Asia and Greater China, and the evergreen flagship in the UK, the RSA USA division will align with our global objectives of promoting diversity, purpose, and agility in all forms of content.”

Director, Jake Scott – “David has been an invaluable and integral member of the RSA family over what has been a rich and creatively rewarding partnership. Though I’m truly sad to see him go, we wish him the greatest success in his future endeavours. David and I will continue to debate the origins of Punk for many years to come!”
